ದಾವೀ ದನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರ್ತನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ--ನೀನೆದ್ದು ಕೆಯಾಲಾಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗು; ನಾನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡು ವೆನು ಅಂದನು.
Daavee danu tirigi kartanannu kelidanu. Adakke kartanu pratyuttaravaagi--neeneddu keyaalaakke hogu; naanu philishtiyarannu ninna kaiyalli oppisikodu venu andanu.

- 5ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದಾವೀದನೂ ತನ್ನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಕೆಯಾಲಾಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅವರ ದನಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದನು. ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ದಾವೀದನು ಕೆಯಾಲಾದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು.
- 6ಆದರೆ ಅಹೀಮೆಲೆಕನ ಮಗನಾದ ಎಬ್ಯಾತಾರನು ಕೆಯಾಲಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಫೋದು ಇತ್ತು.
