ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಹುಡುಕಲು ಕಾಡು ಮೇಕೆಗಳಿರುವ ಬಂಡೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.

- 3ಅವನು ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುರಿ ಹಟ್ಟಿಗಳು ಇರುವ ಗವಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಕಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನೂ ಅವನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಆ ಗವಿಯ ಪಕ್ಕ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರು.
- 4ದಾವೀದನ ಜನರು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಶತ್ರುವನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿಗೆ ಸರಿತೋರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುವೆನೆಂದು ಕರ್ತನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ದಿವಸವು ಇದೇ ಅಂದರು. ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಎದ್ದು ಹೋಗಿ ಏಕಾಂತವಾಗಿ ಸೌಲನ ನಿಲುವಂಗಿಯ ಅಂಚನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.
