ಆಸನು ಅವನಿ ಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು. ಮಾರೇಷದ ಬಳಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚೆಫಾತಾ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯೂಹ ಕಟ್ಟಿದರು.

- 8ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವರು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ ವೃದ್ಧಿಹೊಂದಿದರು. ಇದ ಲ್ಲದೆ ಆಸನಿಗೆ ಖೇಡ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೂ ಈಟಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹಿಡಿ ಯುವ ರಾಣುವೆ ಇತ್ತು. ಯೆಹೂದದವರು ಮೂರು ಲಕ್ಷಮಂದಿಯೂ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನಿನವರು ಗುರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವವರೂ, ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಎಸೆಯುವವರೂ ಎರಡು ಲಕ್ಷದ ಎಂಭತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದರು. ಇವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
- 9ಆದರೆ ಕೂಷಿಯನಾದ ಜೆರಹನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋ ಧವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟು ಮಾರೇಷದ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೂ ಬಂದನು. ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹತ್ತು ಲಕ್ಷ ಜನ ರಾಣುವೆಯೂ ಮುನ್ನೂರು ರಥಗಳೂ ಇದ್ದವು.
- 10ಆಸನು ಅವನಿ ಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು. ಮಾರೇಷದ ಬಳಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚೆಫಾತಾ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯೂಹ ಕಟ್ಟಿದರು.
- 11ಆಗ ಆಸನು ತನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು--ಕರ್ತನೇ, ಅನೇಕರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲಹೀನರಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯಕೊಡು ವವನು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನಮಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಕೊಡು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಾವು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಆತುಕೊಂಡಿ ದ್ದೇವೆ; ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಈ ಗುಂಪಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇವೆ; ಓ ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೆ ಯಾರೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ನೀನೇ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರು; ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ನಿನ್ನೆದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲಗೊಳ್ಳದಿರಲಿ ಅಂದನು.
- 12ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಕೂಷಿಯರನ್ನು ಆಸನ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಯೆಹೂ ದದವರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಹೊಡೆದನು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಕೂಷಿಯರು ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.
