1. 2ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಡು; ನಾವು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ವರೆಗೂ ಹೋಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಒಂದೊಂದು ತೊಲೆಯನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಮಗೋ ಸ್ಕರ ಒಂದು ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡುವೆವು ಅಂದರು. ಅವನು--ಹೋಗಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
2. 3ಆಗ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು--ನೀನು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾ ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕವನು--ನಾನು ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.
3. 4ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋದನು. ಅವರು ಯೊರ್ದನಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
4. 5ಒಬ್ಬನು ತೊಲೆಯನ್ನು ಬೀಳಿಸುವಾಗ ಕೊಡಲಿಯು ನೀರಿನೊಳಗೆ ಬಿತ್ತು. ಆಗ ಅವನು--ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ಯಜಮಾನನೇ, ಅದು ಎರವಾಗಿ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡದ್ದು ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
5. 6ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು--ಅದು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿತ್ತು ಅಂದನು. ಇವನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದ ತರುವಾಯ ಅವನು ಒಂದು ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಕಡಿದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ಕೊಡಲಿಯು ತೇಲಾಡಿತು.
