ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರು ಅಮ್ಮೋನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅಮ್ಮೋನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ತಮ್ಮ ಯಜಮಾನನಾದ ಹಾನೂನ ನಿಗೆ--ದಾವೀದನು ಆದರಣೆ ಹೇಳುವವರನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಘನ ಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ಯೋಚಿಸುತ್ತೀಯೋ? ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ವನ್ನು ಶೋಧಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೂ ಪಾಳತಿನೋಡುವದಕ್ಕೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಹಾಕುವದಕ್ಕೂ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದರು.
Daaveedana sevakaru ammonana makkala deshakke bandaaga ammonana makkala pradhaanaru tamma yajamaananaada haanoona nige--daaveedanu aadarane heluvavarannu ninna balige kaluhisiddarinda ninna tandeyannu ghana padisuttaanendu yochisutteeyo? - 2ದಾವೀದನು--ಹಾನೂನನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ನಾಹಾಷನು ನನಗೆ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸಿದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಾನೂ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಹಾನೂನನಿಗೆ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸುವೆನು ಅಂದನು. ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನ ತಂದೆಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಆದರಣೆ ಹೇಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

- 4ಆದದರಿಂದ ಹಾನೂನನು ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಅವರ ಅರ್ಧ ಗಡ್ಡವನ್ನು ಬೋಳಿಸಿ ಅವರ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಂಡಿಯ ವರೆಗೆ ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
- 5ಅವರು ಅದನ್ನು ದಾವೀದ ನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದಾಗ ಆ ಜನರು ಬಹಳ ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಟ್ಟದ್ದ ರಿಂದ ದಾವೀದನು ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ಕಳು ಹಿಸಿ--ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗಡ್ಡಗಳು ಬೆಳೆಯುವವರೆಗೆ ನೀವು ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾದಿದ್ದು ತರುವಾಯ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
