ಆದರೆ ಇವರು ಹೋದ ತರುವಾಯ ಅವರು ಬಾವಿಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಏರಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಶೀಘ್ರ ವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಹೊಳೆ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ನಿನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವಾಗಿ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು ಅಂದರು.

19ಆಗ ಆ ಮನೆ ಯವಳು ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದು ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಹಾಸಿ ನುಚ್ಚನ್ನು ಹರವಿಬಿಟ್ಟಳು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಕಾರ್ಯ ತಿಳಿ ಯದೆ ಹೋಯಿತು.
20ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನ ಸೇವಕರು ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಬಂದು ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯನ್ನು--ಅಹೀಮಾ ಚನೂ ಯೋನಾತಾನನೂ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವಳು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಹಳ್ಳವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಹೋದರು ಅಂದಳು. ಅವರು ಹುಡುಕಿ ಕಾಣದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದರು.
21ಆದರೆ ಇವರು ಹೋದ ತರುವಾಯ ಅವರು ಬಾವಿಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಏರಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಶೀಘ್ರ ವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಹೊಳೆ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ನಿನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವಾಗಿ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು ಅಂದರು.
22ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರೂ ಎದ್ದು ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದರು. ಉದಯವಾಗುವ ದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಒಬ್ಬರಾದರೂ ಹಿಂದುಳಿದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
23ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ತನ್ನ ಯೋಚನೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ತನ್ನ ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತಡಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ ಏರಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಕ್ರಮಪಡಿಸಿ ಉರ್ಲುಹಾಕಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಸತ್ತು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಸಮಾಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಣಲ್ಪಟ್ಟನು.
