ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ತನ್ನ ಯೋಚನೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ತನ್ನ ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತಡಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ ಏರಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಕ್ರಮಪಡಿಸಿ ಉರ್ಲುಹಾಕಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಸತ್ತು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಸಮಾಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಣಲ್ಪಟ್ಟನು.

Aheetophelanu tanna yochaneya prakaara nadeyalillavendu nodidaaga tanna katteya mele tadiyannu haaki eri pattanadalliruva tanna manege hogi adannu kramapadisi urluhaaki kondu sattu tanna tandeya samaadhiyalli hoonalpattanu.

King James Version (KJV): And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled [his] ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.

21ಆದರೆ ಇವರು ಹೋದ ತರುವಾಯ ಅವರು ಬಾವಿಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಏರಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಶೀಘ್ರ ವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಹೊಳೆ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ನಿನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವಾಗಿ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು ಅಂದರು.
22ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರೂ ಎದ್ದು ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದರು. ಉದಯವಾಗುವ ದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಒಬ್ಬರಾದರೂ ಹಿಂದುಳಿದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
23ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ತನ್ನ ಯೋಚನೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ತನ್ನ ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತಡಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ ಏರಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಕ್ರಮಪಡಿಸಿ ಉರ್ಲುಹಾಕಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಸತ್ತು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಸಮಾಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಣಲ್ಪಟ್ಟನು.
24ದಾವೀದನು ಮಹನಯಿಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಇದ ಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲ್‌ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರೂ ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದರು.
25ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅಮಾಸನನ್ನು ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿದನು. ನಾಹಾಷನಿಗೆ ಮಗಳಾದ ಅಬೀಗೈಲಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯನಾದ ಇತ್ರನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಈ ಅಮಾಸನು ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅಬೀಗೈಲಳು ಯೋವಾಬನ ತಾಯಿಯಾದ ಚೆರೂಯಳಿಗೆ ಸಹೋದರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಳು.
