ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡಲಿರುವ ಜನರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಮಾಡಿ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಾವಿರ ಗಳಿಗೂ ನೂರುಗಳಿಗೂ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿ ದನು.
Daaveedanu tanna sangadaliruva janarannu lekkamaadi avara mele saavira galigoo noorugaligoo adhipatigalannu nemisi danu.

- 2ಅವನು ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮೂರು ಪಾಲು ಮಾಡಿ ಒಂದು ಪಾಲನ್ನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೂ ಇನ್ನೊಂದನ್ನು ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗನೂ ಯೋವಾಬನ ತಮ್ಮನೂ ಆದ ಅಬೀಷೈಗೂ ಮತ್ತೊಂದನ್ನು ಗಿತ್ತೀಯನಾದ ಇತ್ತೈಗೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ--ನಾನೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
- 3ಆದರೆ ಜನರು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರಬೇಡ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಾವು ಓಡಿ ಹೋದರೂ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಧ ಜನರು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದರೂ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ. ನೀನಾದರೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೀ. ಈಗ ನೀನು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ನಮಗೆ ಸಹಾಯವಾಗಿರುವದು ಉತ್ತಮ ಅಂದರು.
