1. 1ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡಲಿರುವ ಜನರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಮಾಡಿ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಾವಿರ ಗಳಿಗೂ ನೂರುಗಳಿಗೂ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿ ದನು.
2. 2ಅವನು ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮೂರು ಪಾಲು ಮಾಡಿ ಒಂದು ಪಾಲನ್ನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೂ ಇನ್ನೊಂದನ್ನು ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗನೂ ಯೋವಾಬನ ತಮ್ಮನೂ ಆದ ಅಬೀಷೈಗೂ ಮತ್ತೊಂದನ್ನು ಗಿತ್ತೀಯನಾದ ಇತ್ತೈಗೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ--ನಾನೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
3. 3ಆದರೆ ಜನರು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರಬೇಡ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಾವು ಓಡಿ ಹೋದರೂ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಧ ಜನರು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದರೂ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ. ನೀನಾದರೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೀ. ಈಗ ನೀನು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ನಮಗೆ ಸಹಾಯವಾಗಿರುವದು ಉತ್ತಮ ಅಂದರು.
4. 4ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಿಮಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುವದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು; ಅರಸನು ಬಾಗಲಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತನು; ಜನರೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೂರು ನೂರಾಗಿಯೂ ಸಾವಿರ ಸಾವಿರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಹೊರ ಟರು.
5. 5ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೂ ಅಬೀ ಷೈಯನಿಗೂ ಇತ್ತೈಗೂ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ--ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅರಸನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕೊಟ್ಚ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಕೇಳಿದರು.
