ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಿಮಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುವದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು; ಅರಸನು ಬಾಗಲಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತನು; ಜನರೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೂರು ನೂರಾಗಿಯೂ ಸಾವಿರ ಸಾವಿರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಹೊರ ಟರು.

- 3ಆದರೆ ಜನರು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರಬೇಡ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಾವು ಓಡಿ ಹೋದರೂ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಧ ಜನರು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದರೂ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ. ನೀನಾದರೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೀ. ಈಗ ನೀನು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ನಮಗೆ ಸಹಾಯವಾಗಿರುವದು ಉತ್ತಮ ಅಂದರು.
- 4ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಿಮಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುವದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು; ಅರಸನು ಬಾಗಲಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತನು; ಜನರೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೂರು ನೂರಾಗಿಯೂ ಸಾವಿರ ಸಾವಿರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಹೊರ ಟರು.
- 5ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೂ ಅಬೀ ಷೈಯನಿಗೂ ಇತ್ತೈಗೂ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ--ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅರಸನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕೊಟ್ಚ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಕೇಳಿದರು.
- 6ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಜನರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟರು.
