ಆ ಹೊತ್ತು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಂಹಾರವಾಯಿತು; ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರು ಬಿದ್ದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಯುದ್ಧವು ದೇಶವೆ ಲ್ಲಾದರ ಮೇಲೆ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು. ಆ ಹೊತ್ತು ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಕತ್ತಿಗಿಂತ ಅಡವಿಯು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದವರನ್ನು ನುಂಗಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿತು.

- 9ಆಗ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಬಂದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಹೇಸರ ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿದ್ದನು. ಆ ಹೇಸರ ಕತ್ತೆಯು ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಏಲಾ ಮರದ ಬಲವಾದ ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನ ತಲೆಯು ಆ ಮರದ ಕೊಂಬೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಹತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಹೇಸರ ಕತ್ತೆಯು ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಯಿತು.
- 10ಆಗ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಬಂದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು ಹೇಸರ ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿದ್ದನು. ಆ ಹೇಸರ ಕತ್ತೆಯು ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಏಲಾ ಮರದ ಬಲವಾದ ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನ ತಲೆಯು ಆ ಮರದ ಕೊಂಬೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಹತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಹೇಸರ ಕತ್ತೆಯು ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಯಿತು.
