3. 16ಆಗ ಆ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿ ಯರ ದಂಡನ್ನು ಭೇದಿಸಿ ಹೊರಟು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನ ಬಾಗಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಸೇದಿ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಅದನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಲ್ಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ ಕರ್ತನಿಗಾಗಿ ಹೊಯಿ ದನು.
4. 17ಅವನು--ಕರ್ತನೇ, ಇದನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವದು ನನಗೆ ದೂರವಾಗಿರಲಿ. ಇದು ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾಣದಾಶೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ರಕ್ತವಲ್ಲವೇ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕುಡಿಯಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದ್ದನು. ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಆ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳು ಮಾಡಿದರು.
