ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂರು ತಾಸುಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯು ನಡೆದ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯದೆ ಒಳಗೆ ಬಂದಳು.

5ಅನನೀಯನು ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಪ್ರಾಣಬಿಟ್ಟನು; ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಮಹಾಭಯ ಉಂಟಾ ಯಿತು.
6ಆಗ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರು ಎದ್ದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿ ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟರು.
7ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂರು ತಾಸುಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯು ನಡೆದ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯದೆ ಒಳಗೆ ಬಂದಳು.
8ಆಗ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಆಕೆಗೆ--ನೀವು ಆ ಹೊಲವನ್ನು ಇಷ್ಟೇ ಹಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾರಿದಿರೋ? ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳು ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಕೆಯು--ಹೌದು, ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೇ ಅಂದಳು.
9ಆಗ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಆಕೆಗೆ--ಕರ್ತನ ಆತ್ಮನನ್ನು ಶೋಧಿಸುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನೀವು ಹೇಗೆ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸಮ್ಮತಿಸಿ ದ್ದೀರಿ? ಇಗೋ, ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡನನ್ನು ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟವರ ಪಾದಗಳು ಬಾಗಿಲಲ್ಲಿ ಇವೆ, ಅವರು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೂ ಹೊತ್ತು ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವರು ಅಂದನು.
