ನೀನು ಒಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವಹಾಗೆ ಬಹಳದಿವಸ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದರೆ ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲಿತಾಗಿಸಿ ಕೆಡಿಸಬೇಡ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವುಗಳ ಹಣ್ಣನ್ನು ನೀನು ತಿನ್ನಬಹುದು. ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಹಾಯವಾಗುವದ ಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಬಾರದು. ಹೊಲದ ಮರಗಳು ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಜೀವಕ್ಕಾಗಿವೆ.ಆಹಾರಕ್ಕಾಗದ ಮರ ಗಳೆಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವ ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಕೆಡಿಸಿ ಕಡಿದುಹಾಕಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಅದು ಬೀಳುವ ತನಕ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಬಹುದು.

King James Version (KJV): When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field [is] man’s [life]) to employ [them] in the siege:
