ಮೇಲಿನ ಆಕಾಶ ದಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ನೀರುಗಳಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಇರುವಂಥ ಯಾವ ದೊಂದರ ರೂಪದ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು,

- 8ಮೇಲಿನ ಆಕಾಶ ದಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ನೀರುಗಳಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಇರುವಂಥ ಯಾವ ದೊಂದರ ರೂಪದ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು,
- 9ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬೀಳಲೂಬಾರದು, ಸೇವಿಸಲೂಬಾರದು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನಾಗಿರುವ ನಾನು ರೋಷವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಗೆಮಾಡುವವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿತೃಗಳ ಅಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಮೂರನೆಯ ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ತಲಾಂತರದ ವರೆಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
- 10ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರಿಗೆ ಸಾವಿರಗಳ ವರೆಗೆ ಕರುಣೆ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
