ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇದೂ ಒಂದು ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದು; ಇದಕ್ಕೆಲ್ಲಾ ಒಂದು ಗತಿಯಿದೆ; ಹೌದು, ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಕುಮಾರರ ಹೃದಯಗಳು ಸಹ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿವೆ; ಅವರು ಜೀವಿಸುವಾಗ ಅವರ ಹೃದಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಚ್ಚು ತನವಿದೆ. ಅನಂತರ ಅವರು ಸಾಯುತ್ತಾರೆ (ಸತ್ತವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.)

1ನಾನು ಇವೆಲ್ಲವುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಟ್ಟು ಇವೆಲ್ಲವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ತೀರ್ಮಾನಿಸಿ ದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನೀತಿವಂತನು ಮತ್ತು ಜ್ಞಾನಿ ಇವರ ಕೆಲಸಗಳು ದೇವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿವೆ; ಯಾವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೂ ಅವರ ಮುಂದಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲವುಗಳನ್ನು, ಅಂದರೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಯನ್ನು ಅಥವಾ ದ್ವೇಷವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯಲಾರನು.

5ಬದುಕಿರುವವರು ತಾವು ಸಾಯುತ್ತೇವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದಿ ದ್ದಾರೆ; ಆದರೆ ಸತ್ತವರಿಗೆ ಏನೂ ತಿಳಿಯದು. ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಇನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲವೇನೂ ಇರದು. ಅವರ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕವು ಮರೆತುಹೋಗಿದೆ.
