ಕರ್ತನ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ನನಗೆ ಉಂಟಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--
The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
ತಂದೆಗಳು ಹುಳಿ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಂದರು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಹಲ್ಲು ಉಳಿತು ಹೋಯಿತು ಎಂಬ ಗಾದೆಯನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ದೇಶದ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ನೀವು ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುವ ಇದರ ಅರ್ಥವೇನು?
What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?
ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳು ತ್ತಾನೆ--ನನ್ನ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ, ನೀವು ಈ ಗಾದೆಯನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭವು ಇರುವದಿಲ್ಲ.
[As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have [occasion] any more to use this proverb in Israel.
ಇಗೋ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಾಣಗಳು ನನ್ನವೇ; ತಂದೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ಹೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಗನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ನನ್ನದೇ; ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡುವವನೇ ತಾನಾ ಗಿಯೇ ಸಾಯುವನು.
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ನೀತಿವಂತ ನಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನೀತಿಯನ್ನೂ ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನೂ ನಡಿಸಿ,
But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
ಪರ್ವತಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ತಿನ್ನದೆ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮನೆ ತನದವರ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತದೆ, ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೆಡಿಸದೆ, ಮುಟ್ಟಾ ಗಿರುವ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಸವಿಾಪಿಸದೆ;
[And] hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour’s wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,
ಯಾರನ್ನೂ ಉಪದ್ರಪಡಿಸದೆ, ಸಾಲ ಮಾಡಿದವನ ಒತ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಹಿಂಸಿಸಿ, ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡದೆ, ಹಸಿದವನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಮತ್ತು ಬೆತ್ತಲೆ ಯಿರುವವನಿಗೆ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊದಿಸಿ,
And hath not oppressed any, [but] hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
ಬಡ್ಡಿಗೆ ಸಾಲ ಕೊಡದೆ, ಲಾಭವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ, ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ದಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂತೆಗೆದು ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು ಸತ್ಯದ ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ನಡಿಸಿ,
He [that] hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, [that] hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,
ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವದ ಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ನಿಯಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದು, ನನ್ನ ನ್ಯಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಂಡು ಸತ್ಯಪರನಾಗಿ ನಡೆದರೆ ಅವನು ನೀತಿ ವಂತನು ಮತ್ತು ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಬದುಕುವವನು ಎಂದು ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he [is] just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
ಆದರೆ ಇಂತಹ ವನು ಪಡೆದ ಮಗನು ದರೋಡೆಕೋರನಾಗಿ ರಕ್ತವನ್ನು ಚೆಲ್ಲುವವನಾದರೆ ಇಂತಹ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.
If he beget a son [that is] a robber, a shedder of blood, and [that] doeth the like to [any] one of these [things],
ಅಂತಹ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಪರ್ವತಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ತಿಂದು ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೆಡಿಸಿ,
And that doeth not any of those [duties], but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour’s wife,
ಬಡವರನ್ನೂ ದರಿದ್ರರನ್ನೂ ಉಪದ್ರಗೊಳಿಸಿ, ಹಿಂಸಿಸಿ, ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಒತ್ತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡದೆ, ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಅಸಹ್ಯ ವಾದವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ;
Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,
ಬಡ್ಡಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಲಾಭ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನು ಬದುಕುವನೋ? ಅವನು ಬದುಕುವದಿಲ್ಲ, ಅವನು ಈ ಅಸಹ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡಿ ದ್ದಾನೆ; ಅವನು ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಸಾಯುವನು ಅವನ ರಕ್ತವು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಇರುವದು.
Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
ಆಗ ಇಗೋ, ಅವನು ಮಗನನ್ನು ಪಡೆದ ಮೇಲೆ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೋಡಿ ಆಲೊಚಿಸಿ, ಅವುಗಳಂತೆ ಮಾಡದೆ;
Now, lo, [if] he beget a son, that seeth all his father’s sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,
ಪರ್ವತಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ತಿನ್ನದೆ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮನೆತನ ದವರ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತದೆ, ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೆಡಿಸದೆ,
[That] hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour’s wife,
ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ತೊಂದರೆಪಡಿಸದೆ, ಒತ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯದೆ, ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಹಿಂಸೆಯಿಂದ ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡದೆ, ಹಸಿದವನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಬೆತ್ತಲೆಯಾದವನಿಗೆ ವಸ್ತ್ರ ವನ್ನು ಹೊದಿಸಿ,
Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, [but] hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,
ಬಡವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೈಮಾಡದೆ, ಬಡ್ಡಿಯನ್ನೂ ಲಾಭವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ, ನನ್ನ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ನಿಯಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದರೆ, ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಅಕ್ರಮಗಳ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಸಾಯುವದಿಲ್ಲ ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಬದುಕುವನು.
[That] hath taken off his hand from the poor, [that] hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
ಆತನ ತಂದೆಯ ವಿಷಯವಾದರೋ ಅವನು ಬಹಳ ಬಲಾತ್ಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿ ದ್ದರಿಂದಲೂ ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಸಿಸಿ ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದಲೂ ತನ್ನ ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದಲೂ ಇಗೋ, ಅವನು ಅಕ್ರಮದಲಿ ಸಾಯುವನು.
[As for] his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did [that] which [is] not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.
ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಇನ್ನೂ ನೀವು--ಮಗನು ತಂದೆಯ ಅಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಹೊರುವದಿಲ್ಲವೇ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವಿರಿ; ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಮಗನು ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನೂ ನೀತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನ ನಿಯಮಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೈಕೊಂಡು ನಡೆದರೆ ಅವನು ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಬದುಕುವನು.
Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, [and] hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡುವ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ತಾನಾಗಿ ಸಾಯುವದು; ಮಗನು ತಂದೆಯ ಅಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಹೊರುವದಿಲ್ಲ. ತಂದೆಯು ಮಗನ ಅಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಹೊರುವದಿಲ್ಲ. ನೀತಿವಂತನ ನೀತಿಯು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಇರುವದು. ದುಷ್ಟನ ದುಷ್ಟತ್ವವು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಇರುವದು.
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
ಆದರೆ ದುಷ್ಟನು ತಾನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ನಿಯಮಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೈಕೊಂಡು ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನೂ ನೀತಿಯನ್ನೂ ನಡೆಸಿದರೆ ಅವನು ಸಾಯದೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಬದುಕುವನು.
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
ಅವನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಅಪರಾಧಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ದವಾಗಿ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಲ್ಪಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಅವನು ಮಾಡಿದ ನೀತಿಯಿಂದಲೇ ಅವನು ಬದುಕುವನು.
All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
ದುಷ್ಟನು ಸಾಯುವದರಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವಾದರೂ ಸಂತೋಷವಿ ರುವದೋ ಎಂದು ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ನಡತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಬದು ಕಿದರೆ ನನಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವಲ್ಲವೇ?
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: [and] not that he should return from his ways, and live?
ಆದರೆ ನೀತಿ ವಂತನು ತನ್ನ ನೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ಮಾಡಿ ದುಷ್ಟನು ಮಾಡುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅಸಹ್ಯವಾದವುಗಳ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅವನು ಬದುಕುವನೇ? ಅವನು ಮಾಡಿ ರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ನೀತಿಯು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಲ್ಪಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಅವನು ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಅಪರಾಧದಿಂದಲೂ ಪಾಪ ದಿಂದಲೂ ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಯುವನು.
But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked [man] doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
ಆದರೆ ನೀವು, ಕರ್ತನ ಮಾರ್ಗವು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ ಅನ್ನುತ್ತೀರಿ; ಓ ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲಿನ ಮನೆಯವರೇ, ಈಗ ಕೇಳಿರಿ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾರ್ಗವು ಸಮವಲ್ಲವೇ? ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳು ಸಮವಲ್ಲದವು ಗಳೇ.
Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
ನೀತಿವಂತನು ತನ್ನ ನೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಅನ್ಯಾಯಮಾಡಿ ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತರೆ, ಅವನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಅನ್ಯಾಯದಿಂದಲೇ ಸಾಯುವನು.
When a righteous [man] turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
ದುಷ್ಟನು ತನ್ನ ದುಷ್ಟತನವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನೂ ನೀತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಅನುಸರಿಸಿದರೆ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬದುಕುವನು.
Again, when the wicked [man] turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
ತಾನು ಆಲೋಚಿಸಿ ತಾನು ಮಾಡುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದುಷ್ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಿರುಗಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವದರಿಂದ ಸಾಯದೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಬದುಕು ವನು.
Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮನೆತನದವರು ಕರ್ತನ ಮಾರ್ಗ ಸಮವಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮನೆತನದವರೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾರ್ಗ ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲವೇ? ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳು ಸಮವಲ್ಲದವುಗಳೇ.
Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
ಆದದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮನೆತನದವರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸುವೆನಂದು ದೇವ ರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ; ನಿಮ್ಮ ದುಷ್ಟತ್ವಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪಪಡಿರಿ; ಆಗ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಗಳು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳುವದಿಲ್ಲ.
Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn [yourselves] from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
ನೀವು ಮಾಡುವ ದುಷ್ಟತ್ವಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡಿರಿ; ಹೊಸ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನೂ ಹೊಸ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನೂ ನೀವು ಪಡಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಓ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮನೆತನದವರೇ, ನೀವು ಸಾಯುವದೇಕೆ?ಸಾಯುವವನ ಸಾವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆದಕಾರಣ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಾಳಿರಿ.
Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
ಸಾಯುವವನ ಸಾವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆದಕಾರಣ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಾಳಿರಿ.
For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn [yourselves], and live ye.
