ಆಗ ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ತೆರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ತಾವು ಬೆತ್ತಲೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಕೊಂಡರು; ಅವರು ಅಂಜೂರದ ಎಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಲಿದುಕೊಂಡು ತಮಗೆ ತಾವೇ ಉಡುಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

- 6ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು--ಆ ಮರದ ಫಲವು ಆಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇದಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ರಮ್ಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸತಕ್ಕದ್ದಾಗಿಯೂ ಅದೆ ಎಂದು ನೋಡಿ ಅದರ ಫಲವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತಿಂದಳು; ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ತನ್ನ ಗಂಡನಿಗೂ ಕೊಟ್ಟಳು; ಅವನೂ ತಿಂದನು.

- 8ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರು ದಿನದ ತಂಗಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೋಟದೊಳಗೆ ತಿರುಗಾಡುವ ಶಬ್ದವನ್ನು ಆದಾಮನೂ ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯೂ ಕೇಳಿ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಿಂದ ತೋಟದ ಮರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡರು.
- 9ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರು ಆದಾಮನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಎಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೀ ಅಂದನು.
