ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಆತನಿಗೆ--ಅಯ್ಯಾ, ಸೇದುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾವಿ ಅಳವಾಗಿದೆ; ಹೀಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಜೀವಕರವಾದ ನೀರು ನಿನಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಂತು?
Aa streeyu aatanige--ayyaa, seduvadakke ninage enoo illa mattu baavi alavaagide; heegiruvalli aa jeevakaravaada neeru ninage ellinda bantu?

- 10ಯೇಸು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಆಕೆಗೆ--ದೇವರ ದಾನವೇನೆಂಬದೂ ಮತ್ತು--ನನಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡು ಎಂದು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾತನು ಯಾರೆಂಬದೂ ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದರೆ ನೀನು ಆತನನ್ನು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಿ, ಆತನು ನಿನಗೆ ಜೀವಕರವಾದ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

- 12ತಾನೂ ತನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೂ ತನ್ನ ದನಗಳೂ ಈ ಬಾವಿ ಯಿಂದ ಕುಡಿದು ನಮಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ನಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗಿಂತ ನೀನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ವನೋ? ಅಂದಳು.
- 13ಯೇಸು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಆಕೆಗೆ--ಈ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ತಿರಿಗಿ ನೀರಡಿಕೆಯಾಗುವದು;
