ಆಗ ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ವಾಗಿ--ನನಗೆ ಗಂಡನಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದಳು, ಯೇಸು ಆಕೆಗೆ--ನನಗೆ ಗಂಡನಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ನೀನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು ಸರಿಯೇ;

15ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಆತನಿಗೆ--ಅಯ್ಯಾ, ನನಗೆ ನೀರಡಿಕೆಯಾಗದಂತೆಯೂ ನೀರು ಸೇದುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಾರದಂತೆಯೂ ನನಗೆ ಈ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕೊಡು ಅಂದಳು.
16ಯೇಸು ಆಕೆಗೆ--ಹೋಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡನನ್ನು ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಾ ಅಂದನು.
17ಆಗ ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ವಾಗಿ--ನನಗೆ ಗಂಡನಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದಳು, ಯೇಸು ಆಕೆಗೆ--ನನಗೆ ಗಂಡನಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ನೀನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು ಸರಿಯೇ;
18ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಐದು ಮಂದಿ ಗಂಡಂದಿರಿದ್ದರು; ಈಗ ನಿನಗಿರುವವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡ ನಲ್ಲ; ಆ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು ಸತ್ಯವಾದದ್ದು ಅಂದನು.
19ಆಗ ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಆತನಿಗೆ--ಅಯ್ಯಾ, ನೀನು ಒಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯೆಂದು ನಾನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ;
