ಆತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಗುಳಿ ಆ ಉಗುಳಿನಿಂದ ಕೆಸರು ಮಾಡಿ ಆ ಕೆಸರನ್ನು ಕುರುಡನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿದನು;

4ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಾತನ ಕೆಲಸ ಗಳನ್ನು ಹಗಲಿರುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಮಾಡತಕ್ಕದ್ದು; ರಾತ್ರಿ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ, ಆಗ ಯಾವ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೂ ಕೆಲಸಮಾಡ ಲಾರನು.
5ನಾನು ಈ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿರುವವರೆಗೆ ಲೋಕದ ಬೆಳಕಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.
6ಆತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಗುಳಿ ಆ ಉಗುಳಿನಿಂದ ಕೆಸರು ಮಾಡಿ ಆ ಕೆಸರನ್ನು ಕುರುಡನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿದನು;
7ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಹೋಗು, ಸಿಲೋವ ಕೊಳ ದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಳೆದುಕೋ(ಸಿಲೋವ ಅಂದರೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ವನು ಎಂದರ್ಥ) ಅಂದನು. ಅವನು ಹೋಗಿ ತೊಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿ ಬಂದನು.
8ಹೀಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ನೆರೆಯವರೂ ಅವನು ಮೊದಲು ಕುರುಡನಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅವನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದವರೂ-- ಕೂತುಕೊಂಡು ಭಿಕ್ಷೆ ಬೇಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವನು ಇವನೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದರು.
