ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ತನ್ನ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು ತಾನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಧೂಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದ ವರೆಗೆ ಕರ್ತನ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ನೆಲದಮೇಲೆ ಬೋರಲು ಬಿದ್ದರು.

- 6ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ತನ್ನ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು ತಾನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಧೂಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದ ವರೆಗೆ ಕರ್ತನ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ನೆಲದಮೇಲೆ ಬೋರಲು ಬಿದ್ದರು.
- 7ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು--ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ಓ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರೇ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಮೋರಿ ಯರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಕೊಡುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನೀನು ಈ ಜನರು ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನು? ನಮಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾಕೆಂದು ನಾವು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಆಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇದಾಗಿತ್ತು.
- 8ಓ ಕರ್ತನೇ, ಈಗ ನಾನೇನು ಹೇಳಲಿ? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿಸಿದ್ದಾರಲ್ಲಾ.
