1. 3ಯೆಹೋಶುವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಿರಿಗಿ ಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಏರಿಹೋಗದೆ ಇರಲಿ; ಆಯಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಎರಡು ಅಥವಾ ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರು ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ಹೋಗಲಿ; ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ದಣಿಸಬೇಡ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜನರು ಮಾತ್ರ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಂದರು.
2. 4ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮೂರುಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು; ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಆಯಿಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಮುಂದೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.
3. 5ಆಯಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮೂವತ್ತಾರು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದು ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಬಾಗಲಿನಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ ಷೆಬಾರಿಮಿನ ವರೆಗೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಇಳಿದು ಹೋಗುವ ವರೆಗೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದರು. ಆದದ ರಿಂದ ಜನರ ಹೃದಯವು ಕರಗಿ ನೀರಿನಂತಾಯಿತು.
4. 6ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ತನ್ನ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು ತಾನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಧೂಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದ ವರೆಗೆ ಕರ್ತನ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ನೆಲದಮೇಲೆ ಬೋರಲು ಬಿದ್ದರು.
5. 7ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು--ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ಓ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರೇ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಮೋರಿ ಯರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಕೊಡುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನೀನು ಈ ಜನರು ಯೊರ್ದನನ್ನು ದಾಟಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನು? ನಮಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾಕೆಂದು ನಾವು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಆಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇದಾಗಿತ್ತು.
