1. 2ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕುಮಾರರನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಳು. ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ದೊಡ್ಡವರಾದಾಗ ಅವರು ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯ ಬಾಧ್ಯಸ್ಥನಲ್ಲ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನೀನು ಪರಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಮಗನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದರು.
2. 3ಆಗ ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಟೋಬ್‌ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದನು; ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದ ನಿಷ್ಪ್ರಯೋಜಕ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೊರಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
3. 4ಕೆಲವು ದಿವಸಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ, ಅಮ್ಮೋನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
4. 5ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹ ನನ್ನು ಟೋಬ್‌ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲು ಹೋಗಿ
5. 6ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನಿಗೆ--ನಾವು ಅಮ್ಮೋನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ನೀನು ಬಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾಗಿರು ಅಂದರು.
