ಆದರೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೇವೂ ನನಗೂ ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಗೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನಿಗೂ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವು ಉಂಟು; ಏನೂ ಕೊರತೆ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.

King James Version (KJV): Yet there is both straw and provender for our asses; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for thy handmaid, and for the young man [which is] with thy servants: [there is] no want of any thing.

17ಆ ಮುದುಕನು ತನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನೆತ್ತಿ ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಬೀದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿ ತಿದ್ದ ಮಾರ್ಗದವನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ--ನೀನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೀ? ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಂದೆ ಅಂದನು.
18ಅವನು ಇವನಿಗೆ--ನಾವು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್‌ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾದು ಹೋಗು ತ್ತೇವೆ. ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಯವನು; ಈಗ ಕರ್ತನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಮನೆಗೆ ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.

20ಆಗ ಆ ಮುದುಕನು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಾಗಲಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕೊರತೆಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರಲಿ; ಹೇಗಾ ದರೂ ಬೀದಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಇಳುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ
21ಅವನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೇವು ಹಾಕಿದನು. ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲು ಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಳೆದು ತಿಂದು ಕುಡಿದರು.
