ಅವನು ಇವನಿಗೆ--ನಾವು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್‌ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾದು ಹೋಗು ತ್ತೇವೆ. ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಯವನು; ಈಗ ಕರ್ತನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಮನೆಗೆ ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
Avanu ivanige--naavu yehoodada betlehemininda ephraayaam bettada paarshvakke haadu hogu tteve. Naanu alliyavanu; eega kartana manege hoguttene; aadare nannannu yaaroo manege serisikollalilla.

- 16ಆಗ ಇಗೋ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಮುದುಕನು ತನ್ನ ಹೊಲದ ಕೆಲಸದಿಂದ ಸಂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದನು. ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್‌ ಬೆಟ್ಟದವನಾಗಿಯೂ ಗಿಬೆಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಜನರು ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
- 17ಆ ಮುದುಕನು ತನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನೆತ್ತಿ ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಬೀದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿ ತಿದ್ದ ಮಾರ್ಗದವನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ--ನೀನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೀ? ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಂದೆ ಅಂದನು.
- 18ಅವನು ಇವನಿಗೆ--ನಾವು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್‌ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾದು ಹೋಗು ತ್ತೇವೆ. ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಯವನು; ಈಗ ಕರ್ತನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಮನೆಗೆ ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
- 19ಆದರೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೇವೂ ನನಗೂ ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಗೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನಿಗೂ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವು ಉಂಟು; ಏನೂ ಕೊರತೆ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.
- 20ಆಗ ಆ ಮುದುಕನು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಾಗಲಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕೊರತೆಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರಲಿ; ಹೇಗಾ ದರೂ ಬೀದಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಇಳುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ
