ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಸಹೋದರರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಶೆಕೆಮಿನ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರ ಕಿವಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆಡಿದರು. ಅವರು ಇವನನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ಜನರ ಹೃದಯವು ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿತು.

- 2ನೀವು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ಶೆಕೆಮಿನ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರು ಕೇಳುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ -- ಯೆರುಬ್ಬಾಳನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾದ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿಯು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳುವದು ಒಳ್ಳೇದೋ? ಒಬ್ಬನು ಆಳುವದು ಒಳ್ಳೇದೋ? ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಎಲುಬೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾಂಸವೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
- 3ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಸಹೋದರರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಶೆಕೆಮಿನ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರ ಕಿವಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆಡಿದರು. ಅವರು ಇವನನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ಜನರ ಹೃದಯವು ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿತು.
- 4ಅವರು ಬಾಳ್‌ಬೆರೀತಿನ ಮನೆಯೊಳ ಗಿಂದ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಅವುಗಳಿಂದ ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನು ನಿಷ್ಪ್ರಯೋಜಕರನ್ನೂ ಬೆಲೆಯಿಲ್ಲದವರನ್ನೂ ಸಂಬಳಕ್ಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡನು. ಅವರು ಅವನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋದರು.
- 5ಅವನು ಒಫ್ರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರಾದ ಯೆರುಬ್ಬಾಳನ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಕುಮಾರರನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಯೆರುಬ್ಬಾಳನ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋತಾಮನು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಉಳಿದನು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡನು.
