ಆಗ ಅವರು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು; ಮತ್ತು ಯೇಸು ದೇವಾಲಯದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾರುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂಡು ಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರನ್ನೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿ ಹಣ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸುವವರ ಮೇಜುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಪಾರಿವಾಳಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾರುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರ ಪೀಠಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೆಡವಿಹಾಕಿದನು.

- 16ಯಾವನೂ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಮಾರ್ಗದಿಂದ ಯಾವ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯ ನ್ನಾದರೂ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಗೊಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
- 17ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಾ--ನನ್ನ ಮನೆಯು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳವರಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯ ಮನೆ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವದೆಂದು ಬರೆದಿಲ್ಲವೇ? ಆದರೆ ನೀವು ಅದನ್ನು ಕಳ್ಳರ ಗವಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೀರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
