ಅನೇಕರು ಆತನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳಿದರೂ ಅವರ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯು ಒಂದ ಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಒಪ್ಪಲಿಲ್ಲ.

54ಆದರೆ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಮಹಾಯಾಜಕನ ಭವನದವರೆಗೂ ದೂರ ದಿಂದ ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿ ಆಳುಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಕೂತುಕೊಂಡು ಬೆಂಕಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಚಳಿ ಕಾಯಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳು ತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
55ಪ್ರಧಾನಯಾಜಕರೂ ನ್ಯಾಯಸಭೆಯವ ರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆತನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ ಏನೂ ಕಂಡು ಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
56ಅನೇಕರು ಆತನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳಿದರೂ ಅವರ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯು ಒಂದ ಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಒಪ್ಪಲಿಲ್ಲ.
57ತರುವಾಯ ಕೆಲವರು ಎದ್ದು ಆತನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ--
58ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕೆಡವಿಬಿಟ್ಟು ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟದಿರುವ ಮತ್ತೊಂದನ್ನು ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟುವೆನು ಎಂದು ಈತನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಅಂದರು.
