ಈ ಯೋಹಾನನಿಗೆ ಒಂಟೇ ಕೂದಲಿನ ಉಡುಪೂ ಸೊಂಟಕ್ಕೆ ಚರ್ಮದ ನಡುಕಟ್ಟೂ ಇದ್ದವು; ಮತ್ತು ಮಿಡತೆಗಳೂ ಕಾಡು ಜೇನೂ ಇವನಿಗೆ ಆಹಾರವಾಗಿದ್ದವು.

King James Version (KJV): And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

2ನೀವು ಮಾನಸಾಂತರ ಪಡಿರಿ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಪರಲೋಕರಾಜ್ಯವು ಸಮಾಪ ವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
3ಯಾಕಂದರೆ--ಕರ್ತನ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿರಿ; ಆತನ ಹಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಟ್ಟಗೆ ಮಾಡಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಗುವ ಒಬ್ಬನ ಶಬ್ದವದೆ ಎಂಬದಾಗಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯಾದ ಯೆಶಾಯ ನಿಂದ ಹೇಳಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವನು ಇವನೇ.
4ಈ ಯೋಹಾನನಿಗೆ ಒಂಟೇ ಕೂದಲಿನ ಉಡುಪೂ ಸೊಂಟಕ್ಕೆ ಚರ್ಮದ ನಡುಕಟ್ಟೂ ಇದ್ದವು; ಮತ್ತು ಮಿಡತೆಗಳೂ ಕಾಡು ಜೇನೂ ಇವನಿಗೆ ಆಹಾರವಾಗಿದ್ದವು.
5ಆಗ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವರೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯೂದಾಯ ದವರೂ ಯೊರ್ದನ್‌ ಹೊಳೆಯ ಸುತ್ತಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರದೇಶದವರೂ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದರು.
6ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನು ಅರಿಕೆಮಾಡಿ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಂದ ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
