ಯಾವನೂ ಹಳೇ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯ ತುಂಡನ್ನು ಹಚ್ಚುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಹಚ್ಚಿದರೆ ಅದು ಆ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಹಿಂಜುವದರಿಂದ ಹರಕು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗು ವದು.

- 17ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಹೊಸ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನು ಹಳೇ ಬುದ್ದಲಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರು ಹಾಕುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಹಾಕಿದರೆ ಅವು ಒಡೆದು ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವು ಚೆಲ್ಲಿಹೋಗಿ ಬುದ್ದಲಿಗಳು ನಾಶವಾಗುವವು; ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಹೊಸ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾ ರಸವನ್ನು ಹೊಸ ಬುದ್ದಲಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕುವರು; ಆಗ ಅವೆರಡೂ ಭದ್ರವಾಗಿರುವವು ಅಂದನು.
- 18ಆತನು ಈ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯು ಬಂದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿ--ನನ್ನ ಮಗಳು ಇದೀಗಲೇ ಸತ್ತು ಹೋಗಿರುವಳು; ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ಬಂದು ಆಕೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನಿಡು; ಆಗ ಅವಳು ಬದುಕುವಳು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
