1. 22നിങ്ങൾ പോയി ഇനിയും സൂക്ഷ്മമായി അന്വേഷിച്ചു അവന്റെ സഞ്ചാരം എവിടെയൊക്കെ ആകുന്നു എന്നും അവിടങ്ങളിൽ അവനെ കണ്ടവർ ആരെല്ലാമെന്നും അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾവിൻ; അവൻ വലിയ ഉപായി ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
2. 23ആകയാൽ അവൻ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഒളിപ്പിടങ്ങളെല്ലാം കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞുവന്നു സൂക്ഷ്മവിവരം എന്നെ അറിയിപ്പിൻ; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പോരും; അവൻ ദേശത്തു എങ്ങാനും ഉണ്ടെന്നു വരികിൽ ഞാൻ അവനെ യെഹൂദാസഹസ്രങ്ങളിലൊക്കെയും അന്വേഷിച്ചു പിടിക്കും.
3. 24അങ്ങനെ അവർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശൗലിന്നു മുമ്പെ സീഫിലേക്കു പോയി; എന്നാൽ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും മരുഭൂമിയുടെ തെക്കു അരാബയിലെ മാവോൻമരുവിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.
4. 25ശൗലും അവന്റെ പടജ്ജനവും അവനെ തിരയുവാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു. അതു ദാവീദിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ മാവോൻമരുവിലെ സേലയിൽ ചെന്നു താമസിച്ചു. ശൗൽ അതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ മാവോൻമരുവിൽ ദാവീദിനെ പിന്തുടർന്നു.
5. 26ശൗൽ പർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ ഇപ്പുറത്തും ദാവീദും ആളുകളും പർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ അപ്പുറത്തുംകൂടി നടന്നു; ശൗലിനെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുവാൻ ദാവീദ് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു; ശൗലും പടജ്ജനവും ദാവീദിനെയും അവന്റെ ആളുകളെയും വളഞ്ഞുപിടിപ്പാൻ അടുത്തു.
