Saul also and his men went to seek [him]. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard [that], he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

2. 24അങ്ങനെ അവർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശൗലിന്നു മുമ്പെ സീഫിലേക്കു പോയി; എന്നാൽ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും മരുഭൂമിയുടെ തെക്കു അരാബയിലെ മാവോൻമരുവിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.
3. 25ശൗലും അവന്റെ പടജ്ജനവും അവനെ തിരയുവാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു. അതു ദാവീദിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ മാവോൻമരുവിലെ സേലയിൽ ചെന്നു താമസിച്ചു. ശൗൽ അതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ മാവോൻമരുവിൽ ദാവീദിനെ പിന്തുടർന്നു.
4. 26ശൗൽ പർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ ഇപ്പുറത്തും ദാവീദും ആളുകളും പർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ അപ്പുറത്തുംകൂടി നടന്നു; ശൗലിനെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുവാൻ ദാവീദ് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു; ശൗലും പടജ്ജനവും ദാവീദിനെയും അവന്റെ ആളുകളെയും വളഞ്ഞുപിടിപ്പാൻ അടുത്തു.
5. 27അപ്പോൾ ശൗലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഒരു ദൂതൻ വന്നു: ക്ഷണം വരേണം; ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ ദേശത്തെ ആക്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
