അസര്യാപുരോഹിതനും അവനോടുകൂടെ ധൈര്യശാലികളായി യഹോവയുടെ എണ്പതു പുരോഹിതന്മാരും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ അകത്തു ചെന്നു ഉസ്സീയാരാജാവിനെ തടുത്തു അവനോടു:

- 15അവൻ അസ്ത്രങ്ങളും വലിയ കല്ലുകളും പ്രയോഗിപ്പാൻ ഗോപുരങ്ങളുടെയും കൊത്തളങ്ങളുടെയും മേൽ വെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കൗശലപ്പണിക്കാർ സങ്കല്പിച്ച യന്ത്രങ്ങൾ യെരൂശലേമിൽ തീർപ്പിച്ചു; അവൻ പ്രബലനായിത്തീരുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം അതിശയമായി അവന്നു സഹായം ലഭിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി ബഹുദൂരം പരന്നു.
- 16എന്നാൽ അവൻ ബലവാനായപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവന്റെ നാശത്തിന്നായിട്ടു നിഗളിച്ചു; അവൻ തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു കുറ്റം ചെയ്തു ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാൻ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ കടന്നുചെന്നു.
- 17അസര്യാപുരോഹിതനും അവനോടുകൂടെ ധൈര്യശാലികളായി യഹോവയുടെ എണ്പതു പുരോഹിതന്മാരും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ അകത്തു ചെന്നു ഉസ്സീയാരാജാവിനെ തടുത്തു അവനോടു:
- 18ഉസ്സീയാവേ, യഹോവെക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്നതു നിനക്കു വിഹിതമല്ല; ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാൻ വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട അഹരോന്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാർക്കത്രേ; വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിൽനിന്നു പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക; ലംഘനമാകുന്നു നീ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു; അതു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിനക്കു മാനമായിരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
- 19ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാൻ കയ്യിൽ ധൂപകലശം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കെ ഉസ്സീയാവു കോപിച്ചു; അവൻ പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു കോപിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കയിൽ തന്നേ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്റെ അരികെ വെച്ചു പുരോഹിതന്മാർ കാൺകെ അവന്റെ നെറ്റിമേൽ കുഷ്ഠം പൊങ്ങി.
