അതിന്നു യോവാബ്: എന്റെ മകനേ, നീ എന്തിന്നു ഓടുന്നു? നിനക്കു പ്രതിഫലം കിട്ടുകയില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

King James Version (KJV): Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok yet again to Joab, But howsoever, let me, I pray thee, also run after Cushi. And Joab said, Wherefore wilt thou run, my son, seeing that thou hast no tidings ready?
World English Bible (WEB): Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said yet again to Joab, “But come what may, please let me also run after the Cushite.” Joab said, “Why do you want to run, my son, since you will have no reward for the news?”

23അവൻ പിന്നെയും: ഏതായാലും ഞാൻ ഓടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു: എന്നാൽ ഓടിക്കൊൾക എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അഹീമാസ് സമഭൂമിവഴിയായി ഓടി കൂശ്യനെ കടന്നുപോയി.
24എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ് രണ്ടു പടിവാതിലിന്നു മദ്ധ്യേ ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു. കാവല്ക്കാരൻ പടിവാതിലിന്നും മീതെ മതിലിന്റെ മുകളിൽ കയറി തല ഉയർത്തിനോക്കി ഒരുത്തൻ തനിച്ചു ഓടിവരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.
