1. 2ഒരിക്കൽ രാജാവു നാഥാൻപ്രവാചകനോടു: ഇതാ, ഞാൻ ദേവദാരുകൊണ്ടുള്ള അരമനയിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകമോ തിരശ്ശീലെക്കകത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. 5എന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനോടു നീ ചെന്നു പറക: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ അധിവസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ എനിക്കു ഒരു ആലയം പണിയുമോ?
5. 6ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളെ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ച നാൾമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞാൻ ഒരു ആലയത്തിൽ അധിവസിക്കാതെ കൂടാരത്തിലും നിവാസത്തിലുമല്ലോ സഞ്ചരിച്ചുവരുന്നതു.
