1. 6മരിച്ചുപോയ സഹോദരന്റെ പേർ യിസ്രായേലിൽ മാഞ്ഞുപോകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൾ പ്രസവിക്കുന്ന ആദ്യജാതനെ അവന്റെ പേർക്കു കണക്കു കൂട്ടേണം.
2. 7സഹോദരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ പരിഗ്രഹിപ്പാൻ അവന്നു മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കിൽ അവൾ പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കൽ മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: എന്റെ ദേവരന്നു തന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ പേർ യിസ്രായേലിൽ നിലനിർത്തുവാൻ ഇഷ്ടമില്ല; എന്നോടു ദേവരധർമ്മം നിവർത്തിപ്പാൻ അവന്നു മനസ്സില്ല എന്നു പറയേണം.
3. 8അപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാർ അവനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു അവനോടു സംസാരിക്കേണം; എന്നാൽ ഇവളെ പരിഗ്രഹിപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു മനസ്സില്ല എന്നു അവൻ ഖണ്ഡിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞാൽ
4. 9അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ ഭാര്യ മൂപ്പന്മാർ കാൺകെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവന്റെ കാലിൽനിന്നു ചെരിപ്പു അഴിച്ചു അവന്റെ മുഖത്തു തുപ്പി: സഹോദരന്റെ വീടു പണിയാത്ത പുരുഷനോടു ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുമെന്നു പ്രത്യുത്തരം പറയേണം.
5. 10ചെരിപ്പഴിഞ്ഞവന്റെ കുടുംബം എന്നു യിസ്രായേലിൽ അവന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിന്നു പേർ പറയും.
