ഈ പട്ടണം പണികയും അതിന്റെ മതിലുകൾ കെട്ടിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്താൽ അതു നിമിത്തം അവിടത്തേക്കു നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെ ഒരു അവകാശവും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കയില്ലെന്നു രാജാവിനെ ഉണർത്തിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു.

King James Version (KJV): We certify the king that, if this city be builded [again], and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.
World English Bible (WEB): We inform the king that if this city is built and the walls finished, then you will have no possession beyond the River.
American Standard Version (ASV): We certify the king that, if this city be builded, and the walls finished, by this means thou shalt have no portion beyond the River.

15അവിടത്തെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ നോക്കിയാൽ ഈ പട്ടണം മത്സരവും രാജാക്കന്മാർക്കും സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾക്കും ഉപദ്രവവും ഉള്ള പട്ടണം എന്നും അതിൽ അവർ പുരാതനമേ കലഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതിനാൽ ഈ പട്ടണം നശിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്നു എന്നും വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽനിന്നു അറിവാറാകും.
16ഈ പട്ടണം പണികയും അതിന്റെ മതിലുകൾ കെട്ടിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്താൽ അതു നിമിത്തം അവിടത്തേക്കു നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെ ഒരു അവകാശവും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കയില്ലെന്നു രാജാവിനെ ഉണർത്തിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു.
17അതിന്നു രാജാവു ധർമ്മാദ്ധ്യക്ഷനായ രെഹൂമിന്നും രായസക്കാരനായ ശിംശായിക്കും ശമര്യാനിവാസികളായ അവരുടെ കൂട്ടക്കാർക്കും നദിക്കും അക്കരെയുള്ള ശേഷംപേർക്കും മറുപടി എഴുതി അയച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: നിങ്ങൾക്കു കുശലം ഇത്യാദി;
18നിങ്ങൾ കൊടുത്തയച്ച പത്രിക നമ്മുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വ്യക്തമായി വായിച്ചുകേട്ടു.
