അവർ അവനോടു: നീ ആരാകുന്നു? ഞങ്ങളെ അയച്ചവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറയേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു തന്നേ എന്തു പറയുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

Avar avanotu: nee aaraakunnu? Nyangngale ayachchavarotu uttaram parayentatinnu nee ninnekkurichchu tanne entu parayunnu ennu chodichchu.

King James Version (KJV): Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

20ഞാൻ ക്രിസ്തു അല്ല എന്നു ഏറ്റു പറഞ്ഞു.
21പിന്നെ എന്തു? നീ ഏലീയാവോ എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: അല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ ആ പ്രവാചകനോ? എന്നതിന്നു: അല്ല എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
22അവർ അവനോടു: നീ ആരാകുന്നു? ഞങ്ങളെ അയച്ചവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറയേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു തന്നേ എന്തു പറയുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
23അതിന്നു അവൻ: യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ: കർത്താവിന്റെ വഴി നേരെ ആക്കുവിൻ എന്നു മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറയുന്നവന്റെ ശബ്ദം ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
24അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ പരീശന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലുള്ളവർ ആയിരുന്നു.
