അവർ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു വടക്കു പടജ്ജനമായ സൈന്യത്തെ ഒക്കെയും പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പടിഞ്ഞാറു പതിയിരിപ്പുകാരെയും നിറുത്തി; യോശുവ ആ രാത്രി താഴ്‌വരയുടെ നടുവിലേക്കു പോയി.

King James Version (KJV): And when they had set the people, [even] all the host that [was] on the north of the city, and their liers in wait on the west of the city, Joshua went that night into the midst of the valley.

14ഹായിരാജാവു അതു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവനും നഗരവാസികളായ അവന്റെ ജനമൊക്കെയും ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്ന സമയത്തു സമഭൂമിക്കു മുമ്പിൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ പടെക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു. പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ പിൻവശത്തു തനിക്കു വിരോധമായി പതിയിരിപ്പു ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവൻ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.
15യോശുവയും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും അവരോടു തോറ്റ ഭാവത്തിൽ മരുഭൂമിവഴിയായി ഓടി.
