മീഖാവു തീർപ്പിച്ചവയെയും അവന്നു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പുരോഹിതനെയും അവർ കൊണ്ടുപോയി, ലയീശിൽ സ്വൈരവും നിർഭയവുമായിരുന്ന ജനത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തി അവരെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ വെട്ടി, പട്ടണം തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

- 28അതു സീദോന്നു അകലെ ആയിരുന്നു; മറ്റു മനുഷ്യരുമായി അവർക്കു സംസർഗ്ഗം ഇല്ലായ്കയാൽ അവരെ വിടുവിപ്പാൻ ആരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. അതു ബേത്ത്-രെഹോബ് താഴ്‌വരയിൽ ആയിരുന്നു. അവർ പട്ടണം വീണ്ടും പണിതു അവിടെ കുടിപാർക്കയും
- 29യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ജനിച്ച തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവായ ദാന്റെ പേരിൻ പ്രകാരം നഗരത്തിന്നു ദാൻ എന്നു പേരിടുകയും ചെയ്തു; പണ്ടു ആ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു ലയീശ് എന്നു പേർ ആയിരുന്നു.
