And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without [doing] any thing [else], go through on my feet.

3. 19അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ അവനോടു: “ഞങ്ങൾ പെരുവഴിയിൽ കൂടി പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം; ഞാനും എന്റെ കന്നുകാലിയും നിന്റെ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചുപോയാൽ അതിന്റെ വിലതരാം; കാൽനടയായി കടന്നു പോകേണമെന്നല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നും എനിക്കു വേണ്ടാ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4. 20അതിന്നു അവൻ “നീ കടന്നുപോകരുതു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എദോം ബഹുസൈന്യത്തോടും ബലമുള്ള കയ്യോടും കൂടെ അവന്റെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
5. 21ഇങ്ങനെ എദോം തന്റെ അതിരിൽകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാൻ യിസ്രായേലിനെ സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല. യിസ്രായേൽ അവനെ വിട്ടു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി.
