2. 16తాము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేతిలో ఓడిపోతిమని సిరియనులు తెలిసికొనినప్పుడు వారు దూతలను పంపి, యేటి ఆవలి సిరియనులను పిలిపించుకొనిరి, హదరెజెరుయొక్క సైన్యాధిపతియైన షోపకు వారికి నాయకుడాయెను.
3. 17దావీదు ఆ సంగతి తెలిసికొని ఇశ్రా యేలీయులనందరిని సమకూర్చి యొర్దాను దాటి వారికి ఎదురుపడి వారియెదుట సైన్యములను వ్యూహపరచెను, దావీదు సిరియనులకు ఎదురుగా సైన్యములను పంక్తులు తీర్చినప్పుడు వారు అతనితో యుద్ధము చేసిరి.
4. 18అయితే సిరియనులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల యెదుట నిలువక తిరిగి పారి పోయిరి;దావీదు సిరియనులలో ఏడువేల రథికులను నలుబది వేల కాల్బలమును హతముచేసి సైన్యాధిపతియైన షోపకును చంపి వేసెను.
5. 19తాము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేతిలో ఓడిపోతిమని హదరెజెరుయొక్క సేవకులు తెలిసికొనినప్పుడు వారు దావీదుతో సమాధానపడి అతనికి సేవకులైరి. అంతటినుండి సిరియనులు అమ్మోనీయులకు సహాయము చేయుటకు మనస్సులేక యుండిరి.
