4. 16తాము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేతిలో ఓడిపోతిమని సిరియనులు తెలిసికొనినప్పుడు వారు దూతలను పంపి, యేటి ఆవలి సిరియనులను పిలిపించుకొనిరి, హదరెజెరుయొక్క సైన్యాధిపతియైన షోపకు వారికి నాయకుడాయెను.
5. 17దావీదు ఆ సంగతి తెలిసికొని ఇశ్రా యేలీయులనందరిని సమకూర్చి యొర్దాను దాటి వారికి ఎదురుపడి వారియెదుట సైన్యములను వ్యూహపరచెను, దావీదు సిరియనులకు ఎదురుగా సైన్యములను పంక్తులు తీర్చినప్పుడు వారు అతనితో యుద్ధము చేసిరి.
