అతడు నాతో పోట్లాడి నన్ను చంపగలిగినయెడల మేము మీకు దాసుల మగుదుము; నేనతని జయించి చంపినయెడల మీరు మాకు దాసులై మాకు దాస్యము చేయుదురు.

- 10ఈ దినమున నేను ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సైన్యములను తిరస్కరించుచున్నాను. ఒకని నియమించిన యెడల వాడును నేనును పోట్లాడుదుమని ఆ ఫిలిష్తీయుడు చెప్పుచువచ్చెను.
- 11సౌలును ఇశ్రా యేలీయులందరును ఆ ఫిలిష్తీయుని మాటలు వినినప్పుడు బహు భీతులైరి.
