ఆలాగున దావీదు చేయుచు వచ్చెను. అతడు ఫిలిష్తీయుల దేశములో నివ సించినంత కాలము ఈ ప్రకారముగా చేయునని తమ్మును గురించి వారు చెప్పుదురేమో అని గాతుకు వర్తమానము తేగల మగవానినైనను ఆడు దానినైనను దావీదు బ్రతుక నియ్యలేదు.

King James Version (KJV): And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring [tidings] to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so [will be] his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.
World English Bible (WEB): David saved neither man nor woman alive to bring them to Gath, saying, “Lest they should tell about us, saying, ‘David did this, and this has been his way all the time he has lived in the country of the Philistines.’”
American Standard Version (ASV): And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring them to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell of us, saying, So did David, and so hath been his manner all the while he hath dwelt in the country of the Philistines.

12దావీదు తన జనులైన ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు తనయందు బొత్తిగా అసహ్యపడునట్లు చేసెను గనుక అతడు సదాకాలము నాకు దాసుడుగాను ఉండునని అనుకొని ఆకీషు దావీదు మాట నమ్మెను.
