ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకును మాటు గాండ్రకును నిర్ణయమైన సంకేతమొకటి యుండెను; అదే దనగా వారు పట్టణములోనుండి పొగ గొప్ప మేఘమువలె లేచునట్లు చేయుటయే.

- 40అయితే పట్టణమునుండి ఆకాశముతట్టు స్తంభ రూపముగా పొగ పైకిలేవ నారంభింపగా బెన్యామీనీ యులు వెనుకతట్టు తిరిగి చూచిరి. అప్పుడు ఆ పట్టణ మంతయు ధూమమయమై ఆకాశమునకెక్కుచుండెను.
