2ఒక శతాధిపతికి ప్రియుడైన దాసుడొకడు రోగియై చావ సిద్ధమైయుండెను.
3శతాధిపతి యేసునుగూర్చి విని, ఆయన వచ్చి తన దాసుని స్వస్థపరచవలెనని ఆయనను వేడుకొనుటకు యూదుల పెద్దలను ఆయన యొద్దకు పంపెను.
4వారు యేసునొద్దకు వచ్చినీవలన ఈ మేలు పొందుటకు అతడు యోగ్యుడు;
5అతడు మన జనులను ప్రేమించి మనకు సమాజమందిరము తానే కట్టించెనని ఆయనతో చెప్పి మిక్కిలి బతిమాలు కొనిరి.
6కావున యేసు వారితో కూడ వెళ్లెను. ఆయన ఆ యింటిదగ్గరకు వచ్చినప్పుడు శతాధిపతి తన స్నేహితులను చూచిమీ రాయనయొద్దకు వెళ్లిప్రభువా, శ్రమ పుచ్చుకొనవద్దు; నీవు నా యింటిలోనికి వచ్చుటకు నేను పాత్రుడనుకాను.
