ఆ ప్రకారమే జనులుపోయి కొమ్మలను తెచ్చి జనులందరు తమ తమ యిండ్ల మీదను తమ లోగిళ్లలోను దేవమందిరపు ఆవరణములోను నీటి గుమ్మపు వీధిలోను ఎఫ్రాయిము గుమ్మపు వీధిలోను పర్ణశాలలు కట్టుకొనిరి.

17మరియు చెరలోనుండి తిరిగి వచ్చినవారి సమూహమును పర్ణశాలలు కట్టుకొని వాటిలో కూర్చుండిరి. నూను కుమారుడైన యెహోషువ దినములు మొదలుకొని అది వరకు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఆలాగున చేసియుండలేదు; అప్పుడు వారికి బహు సంతోషము పుట్టెను.
18ఇదియుగాక మొదటి దినము మొదలుకొని కడదినమువరకు అను దినము ఎజ్రా దేవుని ధర్మశాస్త్ర గ్రంథమును చదివి విని పించుచు వచ్చెను. వారు ఈ ఉత్సవమును ఏడు దిన ములవరకు ఆచరించిన తరువాత విధిచొప్పున ఎనిమిదవ దినమున వారు పరిశుద్ధ సంఘముగా కూడుకొనిరి.
