“இரு மனிதர் சண்டையிடும்போது, ஒரு கர்ப்பிணிப் பெண்னைத் தாக்கிவிடக் கூடும். அதனால் உரிய காலத்திற்கு முன்னாலேயே அவள் குழந்தையை பெறலாம். அப்பெண் அதிகமான காயமடையவில்லையென்றால், அவளைக் காயப்படுத்திய மனிதன் அபராதம் செலுத்த வேண்டும். அபராதத் தொகை எவ்வளவு என்பதை அப்பெண்ணின் கணவன் தீர்மானிப்பான். அபராதத் தொகையின் அளவைத் தீர்மானிக்க நீதிபதிகள் அவனுக்கு உதவுவார்கள்.

If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart [from her], and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges [determine].
